Mushroom Curry

My grandmother always says that the cuckoo bird which is known for its wide repertoire of calls ,is calling out to its sister who got angry with the cuckoo over a mushroom curry and walked out.

My grand mom and mom have been making this curry for as long as I can remember

Ingredients15 Mushrooms washed and cut into 2 or 4 pieces ,1/2 cup grated coconut,1 roughly chopped onion,5 dry red chillies,5 cloves garlic,2-3 cardamoms,2-3 cloves,5 pepper corns,1 tsp cumin seeds, corriander leaves, chilli powder, dhanya (coriander) powder ,turmeric powder and salt.

Method

1.Heat oil in a skillet, add cumin seeds, cloves, dry red chillies, pepper corn, cardamom, onion and fry till the onion is brown.
2.In a blender add the fried ingredients, coconut, chilli powder, corriander powder, turmeric powder and salt and blend with 1 cup of water to get the consistency of a curry.
3.Transfer this to a pot and boil for about 15 mins on medium flame, add the mushrooms and cook till done.
Finally garnish with corriander leaves and dry red chillies.
