Mughlai Chicken II
This is one repice that always makes me feel ohhhhhhh so good coz my husband loves it and I like to watch him enjoying his meal.
When in Bangalore,we had a lot of muslim neighbours and as we all know their biryanis and chicken is to devour..........Ashfar Aunty used to make this for most of their festivals. She generally would grind the fried onions with buttermilk for this event I choose to just add in the buttermilk to the browned onions....
To make this chicken you need
Chicken,browned onions,chopped ginger and garlic,butter milk,spices like cinnamon,cloves,bayleaf,elachi and some cumin seeds,pepper corns ,tomatoes,chilli powder,corriander powder and some salt.
Start to brown the onions in a large skillet and keep aside, in the same skillet add some chicken pieces and fry till brown now add the browned onions and 1/4 cup butter milk, when this starts to boil add all the spices, cumin seeds and the pepper corns, the chopped up ginger and garlic, followed by the tomatoes, chilli powder and corriander powder and salt.
Cook on a medium flame for about 1/2 hour or till the gravy turns into a rich brown color.

Hi Neema, thanks for this entry too. Quite unusual, the buttermilk and onion gravy.
